Media Relations Policy
Children's proven record of excellence in care and research, as well as its reputation as a leading pediatric teaching hospital and advocate for children's health care, attracts considerable attention from the media. Children's Office of Public Affairs handles hundreds of inquiries each year from local, national and international media outlets, including the World Wide Web, seeking information ranging from medical breakthroughs and scientific research discoveries to opinions regarding health care market trends and heartwarming stories about the care of children.

To effectively welcome the media to Children's Hospital, the Office of Public Affairs has established the following guidelines for contacting Children's to arrange interviews, videotape sessions, or photo opportunities.

  • Please call Public Affairs to arrange all interviews or background conversations with any member of Children's staff. Public Affairs tracks all inquiries from the media, and when appropriate, can provide additional or more appropriate sources for your story.
  • Reporters must identify Children's Hospital staff by their Children's Hospital title in stories related to the staff member's work or role at Children's Hospital.
  • Advance notice of on-site interviews is necessary so Public Affairs staff can arrange for a room for media interviews or shoots, notify the patient care areas involved, and line up the appropriate patients, families, and Children's staff for your story.
  • To protect the privacy of all other Children's patients and families, Public Affairs must accompany all reporters, film crews and photographers on the Children's Hospital campus.
